Letter from Rev Urijah Thomas June 1862 accepting the Redland Park Ministry
My Dear Christian Friends,
My impressions that God would have me labour among you in His name has deepened into a solemn earnest conviction. Guided by the advice of my Father and of several friends in the ministry, and far above all I trust and believe by the counsel of the Great Master anxiously sought by me in prayer; I have resolved, not withstanding the overwhelming responsibility that I feel I thereby undertake, to accept your kind and cordial invitation in which the congregation has so generously concurred.
In doing so I must entreat you to sustain me by your sympathy, by your co-operation and by your prayers, so that I may be enabled to live and to preach worthily of the high vocation wherewith I am called...........
I am, My Dear Friends, Yours with sincere esteem and Christian affection.
