Positive Lent

This year's Positive Lent Calendar devised by the Monday Cell group can be found in the March Recorder. Christians often give up something for Lent, such as alcohol or chocolate, but we are inviting you to use this calendar as a means to learn more about what it means to be a true follower of Jesus.
It is based on the Beatitudes, which are the beginning of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and can be found in Matthew 5 vv 1-12. These are descriptions of the spiritual attitude and state of the people who are right with God and guidelines for life in His Kingdom.
We have thought of examples for each of the statements and ask you to find out more about the situations and organisations and pray for the people involved. Through this exercise, we pray that we will all renew our commitment to follow Jesus and help to bring about His Kingdom on earth.
